    Pure Enjoyment

Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends and family, an all women sea kayaking trip is sure to be full of adventure, companionship, and fun.  Appreciation for the beauty and natural wonders of Southeast Alaska comes easily in the company of other women.

Our female guides have it all: world-class paddling skills, years of experience guiding in Southeast Alaska and expertise in leading dynamic groups of women.  These trips are designed for all women – from the beginning kayaker to the experienced paddler.  Our guides are skillful communicators, coaches and leaders.  If you want to learn to kayak or build outdoor skills to support your own endeavors, our guides can help.

You will find plenty of time to enjoy this trip at your own pace.  That may mean taking an after dinner beach walk, or sitting quietly beside the water as you watch the graceful movements of a humpback whale.  These trips are a way to immerse ourselves in the spirit of the area, not to see how far and how fast we can go.  We want you to return home invigorated and inspired by the beauty and grandeur of Alaska’s wilderness.

    Sea Kayaking

Our women's trips are designed to give you the maximum amount of adventure and fun with the least amount of planning stress. In addition to the five day Whales! trip, our package includes meals and lodging in one of Gustavus' finest inns before and after the trip.

Upon arriving in Gustavus, you'll get acquainted with your guides and fellow trip participants over a fine Alaskan dinner. The guides will provide a pre-trip orientation that will cover all the particulars of the trip and get you outfitted in raingear and waterproof boots. We'll supply you with dry bags for your personal clothing, cameras and binoculars. We provide all the quality camping gear you'll need to be comfortable. Our tasty healthy meals feature wild Alaskan seafood, fresh produce and our home baked goods.

In the morning the trip will begin with a charter boat ride to the northern shore of Chichagof Island. Captain Jody will drop us and our gear off at our first campsite near the mouth of a river. The first thing you may notice as the boat pulls away is the quiet and a feeling of "Wow, we're really out here now!" During our two days and nights in this secluded bay we may paddle up the river, fish for plentiful trout, explore the forest wilderness and view the large flocks of geese and ducks here. We have a good chance of seeing brown bears foraging alongside the river or fishing for salmon and trout too. The bay is an ideal place for us to get comfortable in our tandem kayaks.

On the morning of the third day we'll break camp, pack our boats and paddle along the coastline to our next campsite. We'll take plenty of breaks on the way to stretch our legs, explore the beaches and to enjoy lunch. Along the way we'll see harbor seals, Stellar sea lions, otters, bald eagles and the Humpback whales of Point Adolphus! There is no better way to see these amazing beings than from the water.

Tide pool explorations, rain forest treks, and gourmet dinners among the tumbled boulders at our camp fill our two days and nights at Point Adolphus. It is not uncommon to hear Humpbacks slapping the water or their explosive breath from our tents at night. The impression is a lasting one, but only one of many you'll take home from this great kayaking adventure. The natural beauty, abundant wildlife and connections you'll make on this trip will all surely create the setting for many lasting memories.

    From Our Clients...

“Very much appreciated the special attention given to my husband, who has Parkinson's Disease. [Our guide] made certain that my husband had no trouble, especially getting in and out of the kayak. We loved our trip and are seriously considering purchasing a kayak of our own – all thanks to the wonderful time that we had with you.” – Sharon Austin

    Did You Know?

The Alaskan coastal brown bear is the same as a grizzly bear. Coastal brown bears are larger than grizzlies due to the addition of salmon in their diet.
